I do not know who (besides my sister-in-law) noticed the caption on my pregnancy ticker–but if you did, please know that I did not create the caption myself. :-) I’m sorry if anyone has been made uncomfortable and decided to leave my blog permanently…. JK, but–hopefully the caption will change soon, and we can all move on past this uncomfortable point. :-)

Cindy-Lou Who and Ballerina Barbie

As I have mentioned before, the girls have very different personalities. Big E lives in a dream world of ballet, princesses, and beauty. Little E is slowly starting to enjoy those things too, but she does not allow for any kind of “sprucing” up like her sister. So I was thrilled a few weeks ago when she actually let me fix her hair. The only drawback is that she really does not have much hair, and what she does have is very fine. This was the result of our hairstyling attempts:

All day, people kept telling her that she looked just like the little girl from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”–Cindy-Lou Who. By the time Daddy got home, she had heard enough. He immediately said, “Do you know who you look like?!” In a dry, annoyed tone she said, “YES! Cindy-Lou Who….” :-)

Big E on the other hand loves to dress up in her new ballerina outfit from Grandma. She is not the most graceful person on her feet, so it is funny to see her bumping around, imitating the ballet moves from her favorite Barbie book. She is definitely a girly-girl (she even loves going to the mall with Mommy, much to Daddy’s chagrin.)

What will our poor little boy do in this household???

My other valentines :-)

My Valentine

Since I am not a very emotional or mushy person, I promise you all that I will not bore you with dripping paragraphs about why I love my husband, etc., etc. But I did want to say that on the card-companies’ favorite day, I am reminded again of why I love being married to him. I have listed many reasons before (see here)–here are a few more….

1) He thinks through every side of a matter before going ahead with it (I typically do not.)

2) He is extremely patient with our children–at times when I am not.

3) He always looks for the good in people (I am a little more pessimistic).

4) He enjoys simply staying at home and being with his family–I am always ready to go somewhere!

As you can see, there is a pattern….we are quite opposite in many areas, and I know that God planned it that way! I am so thankful for a husband who complements me in many areas, and challenges me in my weak ones. He is truly “meant for me”! Ok, that is all the mushiness I can endure. (And if he reads this, he will be thoroughly embarassed already!)
I love you, Joshua!!!

And now….Big E!

Our oldest “E” loves to have her picture taken, and has since she was little.

Although some days with our girls feel like nightmares :-) , I am so thankful for the blessing of our children. It is a privelege to be their “primary caregivers”, entrusted to us by God Himself. We pray daily that we can have the wisdom to raise them in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord”!

Filling space

I didn’t really have anything to post about right now, so I thought I would dig up some old pictures and post them. The first set is of our littlest E….we have always been amazed by her eyes. We have also been looking through old photo albums and showing the girls when they were born. Hopefully it will prepare them for the arrival of a new baby to the house! Only a few more weeks now…..are we ready? I really cannot say. :-)

Winter in Wisconsin

Today I am able to stay home from work–all of the area schools are closed because of extreme low temperatures outside. As of right now, it is -16 degrees outside, with a windchill temp of -24 or something like that. Ah, it is times like this that I just ADORE Wisconsin…..(Then my sister-in-law calls from Miami to rub in the fact that they hit a record high this weekend of 89 degrees!)

Despite the cold, it is a blessing to be at home with heat, food and warm clothes. We reminded the girls last night that we should never take for granted the things God has given us. I think often we get so caught up in thinking about the “big things” that God does for us, and we forget how our daily needs are only taken care of because of His love for us.

So– thank you Lord for heat on a day like today!!!!!!

A historic occasion

Only my former MBBC readers will find this post exciting……I just thought you would all like to see this segment from the most recent “Maranatha Trumpeter”:

The Maranatha Trumpeter

Ladies: Slacks Allowed on Campus on Saturday – 2/1/2007- Because of the cold weather forecasted for Saturday, Dr. Oats is allowing ladies to wear
approved slacks around campus on Saturday. This exception does not apply to the recital Saturday night.
Because the thought of wearing pants in the dining hall was so thrilling, Josh and I used our faculty pass and ate supper on campus that night…..and I wandered around in pants and felt completely normal. One of the small joys when your husband still works at MBBC. :-)
