Can we say spoiled??

After a long December, the toddlers’ house is brimming with new, exciting, and mostly unnecessary objects. From dolls to books to Elmo objects to princess things, there is little more that these two toddlers could need. But I said NEED–I did not mention the issue of their WANTS. How we could go to Walmart and still hear whining voices begging for more toys is a mystery to me…..! Oh, but it happens! Yesterday for example……I finally left the toy dept. because their whining and crying and pouting was too much.
How can such a fun and joyous holiday create mini-monsters? How have a one-year-old and a three-year-old become “material girls” already? I definitely see a toy restriction being placed on next year’s celebrations.
On a lighter note though, it was fun to watch them both be so excited about baby Jesus’ birthday, and sing familiar carols over and over, and join in on the “secrets” of giftgiving. They play together now too, so toy opening was fun for both of them. “Look what I got!” “Can I play with that, sissy?”
I hope everyone’s Christmas celebrations were relaxing and meaningful and you were able to take the time to reflect on the TRUE meaning of Christmas–not the distorted view evidenced by two small toddlers in my world.
